Sweet little farms (and fingers), Friday reads and furry friends. Soaking up every drop of Summer while it’s still here and trying to find happiness in everything I can. It’s been a pretty lazy week around here… the kind that’s perfect for tending to long-neglected sewing projects, diving into overwhelmingly beautiful novels and seeking out the very last blooming hydrangea bush in all of Vancouver (I’m sure of it). 😊
I hope everyone is having a wonderful week! Happy Five Things Friday!
Here are this week’s five things at random from Barbara Ann Kipfer’s book, 14,000 Things to be Happy About, plus a five-photo-roundup of things that made me smile this week. Read on for the link-up info.
Five things to be happy about:
- the smell of chalk and pencil shavings
- peeling a hard boiled egg and getting a huge chunk of shell all at once
- young robins trailing their mothers on a search for worms
- a stack of buttered toast
- eating the first freshly baked cookie from the oven even though it is way to hot
Five smiles photo-roundup:
Here’s a bonus happy – quilt block designing! I have no idea what I’m doing, but it seems to be working out. Love when that happens!

Loved your 5 things post! I love it when the shell peels off an egg in slabs! Good luck with your block design. I have made mine – it took 3 times longer than I was expecting I was so afraid of messing it up!

Thank you, Sue! I’m still playing around with my block design and I’m definitely not cutting into those gorgeous fabrics until I have everything planned out perfectly! 😉

I was a peeling a hard boiled egg this morning and had that very thought! I love that photo of the cow, I don’t know why but I love cows. Are you working on your Cloud9 block? Here’s my link for my 5 things. https://quiltnparty.com/2016/08/12/5-things-friday-8/

I liked the the boiled egg one too. It really is a magical thing when that happens! Yes, I’m working on the Cloud9 block… trying out a few different things. This is my first attempt at block design and it’s pretty nerve wracking! I’m excited to see all the final reveals though (and kinda wishing mine wasn’t on the first day). Oh well! 😉 Haha. Heading over to your happy post now!
