Five things to be happy about {five things friday link-up #8}

Rainy days with occasional peeks of sunshine, happy mail, one very long-awaited library book pickup, catching up on sewing projects (still working on perfecting my points) and a few days cool enough for sipping hot tea out on the patio… this was another beautiful week.

Wishing everyone a very happy Five Things Friday!

Here are this week’s five things at random from Barbara Ann Kipfer’s book, 14,000 Things to be Happy About, plus a five-photo-roundup of things that made me smile this week. Read on for the link-up info.

Five things to be happy about:

  • things that are quiet and old and simple and ordinary and very real
  • cherries in your soda
  • sitting next to your best friend
  • saltwater taffy
  • Stars Hollow, Connecticut, the setting of Gilmore Girls (TV show)

    1. Aww, thanks so much for the sweet comment, Tami! It’s always a wonderful thing to be able to focus on the happy and I’m so glad we can share our moments too! I had a busy weekend, so I’m just now able to relax and finally catch up on some happy… heading to your post now! 😄

    1. Thanks, Bernie! I’m really happy with the way the colors are working out together! I’m coming up a little short on fabric, so I’ll be throwing in a pretty mustardy-gold floral to the mix as well… fingers crossed it turns out as well as I’m thinking it will! 😊

  1. Wow Amanda! Your photographs are superb and they convey such a tranquil feeling. That block 😍😍😍. Did your happy mail arrive via Canada Post or UPS/DHL? I super stoked for my bundle to arrive. Happy weekend!

    1. Thank you! I skipped ahead a bit on the QAL… I just couldn’t help myself (love how it’s turning out)! The bundle arrived Canada Post yesterday from NJ. I’m surprised you haven’t gotten yours yet. Fingers crossed you get it soon!

      1. Yay, maybe it’s waiting in the mailbox tonight. I’m so glad you skipped ahead on the QAL, as I did too 😜. I love how yours is turning out. So lovely with the floral background and color palette!

      2. Thank you! It’s turning out a little differently than what I originally had planned, but I really love it! It’s a little smaller than the baby size, but that’s nothing a border won’t fix! 😂

    1. Thanks, Stephanie! The flower was on a wild blackberry vine. We always had blackberries in my yard growing up in Florida, but I don’t ever remember seeing them with flowers. Couldn’t pass up taking the photo. 😊 And the book is wonderful! Well worth the long wait!

    1. Thanks so much, Sue! I underestimated the yardage of my initial fabric choices for the F+P quilt, so it’s going to be a bit smaller than the baby size… I’ve also had to throw in a couple more fabrics, but that’s what you get when you’re quilting with remnants! Haha. I’m excited to see how it turns out! Have you started your piecing yet? Can’t wait to see your progress. 😊

      1. I’ve decided to add more blocks instead of adding borders to make mine larger than throw size so I’ve had to raid my stash for extra fabric. I’m coming along with the piecing and making good progress. I’m enjoying it! I will need to break the rhythm to make my Cloud 9 block this week though.
