The Facet + Plus QAL is finally here!
Hosted by Amanda at This Mom Quilts, this bi-weekly quilt along kicked off on Monday July 4th and is running until September 12th. I don’t know about you guys, but this is my first ever QAL (I know!!) and ohmygosh, I’m super excited to be participating!
Amanda’s plus quilt with a twist, is a deliciously fresh and modern take on a classic favorite. With two different size options to choose from (baby quilt or lap quilt) her first round of instructions includes fabric yardage requirements along with pattern notes and coloring sheets for some fun color play. Oh, and by the way, she’s calculated the yardage to reduce waste AND says she is envisioning scrappy backgrounds…? Be still my scrap-loving heart!
Her first F+P post talks a bit about colorways and fabric selection. She even has a recommendation for a quilting book that includes color selection guidelines for all of us bookish quilters out there. Can’t wait to check it out!
And speaking of fabric selection…
Since I try to use up as much of my materials as possible, coupled with the fact that I haven’t sourced new fabric in about 8 months, my fabric stash is on the dangerously low side (I’ve now officially reached scrap bin only status). To add to all the excitement, a much needed thrifting trip is in order! Fingers crossed I score something really good… wish me luck!

Can’t wait to see what you come up with, Amanda. I’m thinking very hard about joining in with this myself. I think by the time I see all the posts start to come out I’ll be pushed over the edge to yes. It will be my first QAL as well and it doesn’t look like the pace is too fast so all should be well.Have fun shopping!!!

I had a pretty successful shopping trip… now I just have to choose what I want to use… the most fun and challenging part! You should definitely do it (insert peer pressure here 😉). The slower pace is what really drew me in and the finished design is so great. Hope you decide to join in on the fun!
